In its citizen facing role, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has taken the lead in ensuring health and safety of not only its citizens but also its workers. Apart from setting up COVID relief centres by converting community centres, sheltering migrant labour, it is also providing over a lakh cooked meals to them in addition to sanitation utilities and conducting medical tests.
Apart from setting up disinfection tunnel at the civil hospital, mist machines have also been pressed into service and a drive through sample collection facility has been created—an unprecedented move. MCG is playing a pivotal role in bringing together all stakeholders—Mayor, Councillors, RWAs, industry as well as business community to fight and defeat COVID. All this, while efficiently maintaining the continuity of civic services and all supply chains to minimise inconvenience.
